Our Big 3 year old!

I find it really hard to comprehend that George is now three... its just crazy! He really isn't that lovely little baby anymore and as much as we can try to hang onto that his own willpower and yearning to learn and assert himself is really too strong. He is making thought out decisions now and although we battle daily he really is such a good loving and kind natured boy.

George was really aware of his birthday this year as there were alot of birthdays at his school leading up to his big day so he was really looking forward to his. Mainly the appeal of a cake was the major thing! 'And cake too Mama????'

When he woke up on his actual birthday we had his new 'big boy bike' waiting for him... he was so excited and wanted to go and ride it straight away and wasn't too impressed that it was dark outside. We also got him a few other things like books, stickers and a tea set as he loves pretending to make us coffee in the mornings. Sean took the day off work and we left Rosa with her Yaya and took George to school. We took in a cake and watched him play with all his friends. He barely noticed we were there really, Sean kept saying that George was having so much fun that maybe we should leave him there to play all day. But we had made plans...

All the kids sat down at their tables and it was also another child, Kayla's birthday on the same day, so two cakes! Yum! I must say George's was yummier though and looked pretty cool! I had made bugs and beetles and leaves and vines on it with icing... every kid likes bugs! Especially ones made out of icing!

They all sang him happy birthday and he was really chuffed...kept telling everyone he was three. After morning tea we watched him swim at the pool that have there... he was pretty reserved, much more than he usually is at swimming. I wondered if that was normal and one of his carers said that he was alot quieter that morning in the pool so maybe he was trying to be well behaved and reserved for us!

After swimming we picked Rosa up and went home for an early lunch and a nap. Once the kids were up in the afternoon we went to the Botanic Gardens for George's first bike ride on his bike. Oh. My. God... he took off down the hill and just didn't stop. Sean and I had to run to keep up and I was freaking when he was out of sight. What if he fell over and hurt himself? What if a truck came? But he was fine. He fell off a few times but got straight back on and off he went again. He loves his big boy bike and is getting more and more confident everyday... even trying to do 'tricks'.

The following Saturday was his birthday party and we ended up with 15 kids and around 25 adults at one point! Crazy! He LOVED it though and played away with everyone...thankfully the weather was awesome and everyone could lay about outside. He was especially thrilled to see his two buddies from school, Thomas and Jeremy and his cousins Taylor and Rylee from Wellington.

The night before I painstakingly made the Finley the fireengine cake. It was very hard this year...Rosa kept waking from teething and the red colouring wasn't right. But I got there in the end and it kinda looked o.k, at least George knew who it was! http://www.finleythefireengine.co.uk/

All in all a great third birthday... now he keeps saying he's going to be 4 on Thursday. Sigh... either he likes cake abit too much OR he wants to grow up quicker. Since he's turned 3 though he has really changed. Much more demanding for things and also started wetting his bed at night again. Last few night have been good, thanks to the introduction of sugerfree sweets. He gets one in the morning if he is dry. This has seen him go to the loo again at 3-4am which is great. Yippee to less washing!

Now that he is three he is bringing home homework from school. Just a little notebook with a book to read at the back and some wee activities inside like learning to spell his name (which he already knew anyway, can verbally spell it and recognise it but now its also writing his name), pencil control, recognising matching pairs etc. He also spells his surname but sometimes misses out the second 'o' in Cooper. I feel so proud marking off his homework and putting a sticker next to my signature each day. He also has gone back to being interested in the number magnets on the fridge and can pick out the numbers that are scattered about the door and put them in order. He can also do A through to G in the alphabet but must lose interest after G!

Yesterday George started his first day at 'big boy's swim school'! He's now going in the water on his own with one other child and a teacher. He did so well, considering the other boy is 4! He just needs to get his little legs to the surface more and keep his legs straight when he kicks. So proud to see him toddle off on his own with googles on and listen carefully to Kay the instructor. Bless... at least he's listening to someone! :)

Our darling boy is just moving too quick for us to keep up. Right now I'm trying to think of all the things he has been doing since our last post but really can't think of them all but I know its been alot!

George is now fully toilet trained both during the day and night. He takes himself off to the loo before bed and mostly comes and gets us in the middle of the night if he needs to go but mainly hangs on until the morning. In the morning we sometimes here him toddle off to the loo and it makes us smile cause we are so proud. He then comes into our room and says "Hiiiiiii Mama, Hiiiii Dadda... good morning! I did a wee wee..." Bless him...

He is just such a great big brother to Rosa. He really looks forward to her waking in the morning and goes in all excited to see her saying "Good morning little lady... hello Rosa Dosa". Very cute. He has no jealousy at all and completely understands if we need to wait for Rosa to finish being fed or can't do something straight away cause of Rosa. Just an awesome awesome boy.

He is still loving going to Karaka Learning Centre and is playing so well there. Really role playing and runs off to all his friends when Mama picks him up to say goodbye to them all.

George graduates from Paddle Tots next month and is off to big swim school. That means he'll be in the water on his own from now on which is quite scary but I can really see him doing well. Just hope he remembers to listen. He mostly listens but sometimes get distracted abit. But that's all the time not just in the pool I suppose. He is a pretty good boy though... only one or two time outs a week (if that!) and always says sorry for things if he has been abit naughty. Before nap time in the afternoons he almost always says "Mama, thank you for taking me to the Gardens/to playgroup/baking with me/making me lunch etc" It just melts my heart.

Can't believe he is going to be 3 next month. Time is a crazy crazy thing. Its just gone so fast and I really can't remember him being a baby anymore. I look back on this blog from time to time to remind myself and it brings me to tears. What an amazing baby he was and kid he is now. We are truly blessed and wouldn't change our number one boy for all the tea in china.

George is sleeping without a nappy at night! He has been dry in the mornings for ages now so we decided to bite the bullet (no going back ya see) and put him in undies at night. He is doing SO well! He wakes up some nights around 3 or 4 in the morning and goes to the loo and then back to bed (or in our bed occasionally) and then some nights he sleeps right through and then goes to the loo as soon as he wakes up. We are so so proud of him.

He had such a lovely holiday with us all and is now back at Karaka Learning Centre. He was a little funny the first day back but pretty much settled into his wee routine there. He goes swimming every morning at the preschool. They don't do alot of training type lessons but mainly playing and flutterboards but we are happy with that since he is back at Paddle Tots for his last term this weekend. Can't believe he's been going for 2.5 years!

Over Auckland Anniversary weekend we went up to Waipu to see Oma and Opa and it was such a great weekend. George slept on his own in a big bed in his own room and slept through the night. He also played so well at the beach, loving the waves and playing a game that Opa made up called 'Smashed him bro'... its abit of an injoke for those who watch a certain sports show here in NZ where they show clips of big tackles or incidents in sports that week. 'Smashed him bro' for George was basically getting dumped by the waves at the beach. :)

George has been such a good kid since the arrival of his baby sister, Rosa. O.k, we do have the odd off day, and sometimes he's been quite naughty and had to have time out but all in all, he's pretty awesome. He has got to do lots of cool stuff since Rosa arrived, like go to the movies, train rides, Zoo trips and then of course he was spoilt by Santa at Xmas.

On Xmas Eve, we put out cookies and milk on the hearth of the fireplace and we also put carrots and a bowl of water out for the reindeer in the backyard. George LOVED doing this and was so excited. On Xmas morning he forgot all about Xmas and we had to remind him... then there was no stopping him. He got a swing and slide set and a firetruck and station from Santa, clothes, books and a cricket and golf set from Mama and Dadda and the family.

George's language is coming ahead in leaps and bounds. He talks really well now, if a little muddled sometimes. Physically he is full of action and his new 'cool trick' is to run down his slide and jump off at the end. Gives Mama and Dadda a heartattack but hey, he'll learn I guess!

George has been a busy little boy over the past few weeks. Mama was on maternity leave so George and I did lots of things together. We now attend playgroup in Clevedon regulary which is so nice, such a lovely group of Mums and kids.

George is getting used to having his little sister Rosa around. The first week was very hard but this week seems to be a little better so far. You can catch up with Rosa's news and pics at www.babycaterpillarcooper.blogspot.com

George is now able to go swimming at preschool as he has been accident free for so long now with his toilet training. He is doing so well and really seems to be enjoying school although he is learning bad habits like biting, hitting and screaming. Sigh... oh well, you can't win them all.

He went to the movies for the first time on Sunday with his Dadda. He saw Madagascar 2 and was so excited by it. There are a few random pics attached for your perusal... hopefully when Rosa settles abit more I'll be able to post more often about the ongoing adventures of our number one boy, George.

Halloween Night - Boo At The Zoo (George dressed up as a bat and hung out with the fairies...

He's growing up so fast... too fast somedays and then again other days not enough. I really can't believe what a little person he is now with his strong opinions and kind nature. Touch wood he's been really healthy of late and he seems to be alot happier for it too.

Things have been a bit stressful here in the Cooper household with the ongoing illness of my grandad and his frequent trips too and from the hospital. The other day when I was having a wee cry about it all, George said to me. "Oh mama, you are sad. Please don't cry mama, I'm here for you." Totally melted my heart and made me feel even more emotional. Then he proceeded to sing me a song and it went "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, don't be afraid, its o.k... I'm here for you, its o.k." Little lyrical master. :)

The boy grows hair like he stands in horse poos... constantly having to cut it (as you will see from the photos pre and post cut). He is also really looking forward to the arrival of our little girl baby caterpillar who is due anyday now. He constantly talks about her like she is part of everything, for example if we say we are going to the supermarket he says "And baby Caterpillar too?"... bless him.

Anyway, just posting up some more pics and will try to find the time today to update Baby Caterpillar's blog too.

Well George is 2 years and 5 mths today and he is doing really well. His speech is improving daily and what used to be gabbled sentences now are so much clearer. He is an incredibly loving little boy who has so much empathy for everything around him, especially animals and babies. His toilet training is going o.k, we have the odd bad day but most of the time he is accident free all day including day sleeps and still wears a nappy at night.

Preschool is going well and he loves it there... kinda outgrowing his little centre though but he is due to move to the next centre next month right before Baby Caterpillar is born so we aren't sure how we are going to handle that as yet. We might delay the move or get him across there sooner.

He is such a social and happy wee lad who says hello to strangers in the park all the time. He makes friends so easily, like just yesterday I was at the Vets picking up the cat and he was happily playing properly with a little 5 or 6 year old girl in the waiting area. They were reading books and laughing and it was so lovely to see. I hope his nature doesn't change too much when his little sister is born!

George - Manners and mayhem!

Two year olds are a challenge... it doesn't matter whether you've got a well behaved one or a naughty one there is always something you are working on or worrying about.

George has been abit sickly this winter... cold after cold, strepthroat and now the ends of a chest infection... poor little guy. He is reasonably happy with it though but he does get a little frustrated at having to be kept indoors and out of the cold and wet. Toilet training is not going that great... he will happily go to the toilet when we ask him too but doesn't initiate it for himself at all which is a little frustrating... and when he is in the middle of doing a poo he definately won't rush off to the loo. Instead, when we ask him if he needs to go, he says no and ignores us while he quietly goes in his nappy.

His manners are fantastic though and about 95% of the time he is an angel child with a curious mind and a very outgoing nature. He'll say hello to strangers and interact with anybody which has its ups and downs. Slightly embarrassing when he is in the trolley at the supermarket and yelling out "hello! Good Morning!" to everyone down the aisle. :) Can't help but smile though...

Cheese!

Well its been far to long since our last update so I thought I'd best post asap for fear of becoming more useless!

George is growing up too fast. He is full of imagination, always making character voices for his toys, singing songs, doing dances, reenacting out scenes from movies and counting and saying his ABC's. Of course, its not all sunshine, he is going through a huge 'my turn' stage and wants to do his own thing alot of the time. But thankfully abit of time out or distraction works 95% of the time.

He is still swimming most weekends and doing really well. He can hold onto a noodle and kick on his own in the pool without any assistance from Dada. He loves to jump in from the side and can almost swim unaided to the side of the pool and pull himself up. Most times he can but sometimes he turns back around to Dada. :)

George attends Karaka Learning Centre two days per week and loves it. He has come on in leaps and bounds since going here and is such a little social butterfly. He has a 'girlfriend'... which was a suprise to us but he has a special friend called Kayla who he hangs about with all the time. If she rejects him in anyway he gets very upset... poor little dude.

Basically his day consists of rising at 6amish, eating breakfast and getting dressed. He plays with his toys before he goes off to school or Yayas. When he comes home with me we get dinner ready together and he helps me light the fire. He's very good at scrunching up bits of newspaper! :)

After dinner we play or sometimes watch his favourite movie which is Ice Age... he loves it and almost knows it word for word. Bedtime is around 7.30pm and we always read two books (which he can sometimes recite) and then into bed. Lights out without a peep or tooing and froing from the bedroom. Such a good little boy.

George has really grasped the concept of 'Baby Caterpillar' very well. I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and showing and George loves to talk to the baby through my belly button and has a keen interest in babies in general. I really do hope this means he's going to be a great big brother. He says that 'Baby Caterpillar' is a baby brother so we should know next week sometime. :)

Well its been sooo long since we last posted. We have been crazy busy with George starting daycare two days per week, last of the summer sun and holidays PLUS really we have just been abit lazy. :)

George is fantastic... really really awesome. He's like a little kid now, lots of conversations and his humour and happy nature is just amazing. Dadda and Mama are blown away by our love for him every day... he just makes us laugh all the time with his thoughts and silly ways.

George turns two on Wednesday the 16th April but we had a birthday party for him over the weekend. He LOVED it! Had lots of fun things to do and a few friends to join in the fun... it was so great to see how excited he was by it all. Even though he is two he knew that the party was for him and that he was special and everyone was there to make it a fun day just for him.

Almost Xmas!

Just a quick post to say Merry Xmas to everyone. George is doing really really well. He has cut most of his teeth now and is talking more and more each day. He babbles away constantly in his own George language with lots of real words thrown in. He tries to tell us things and gets very frustrated with us when we don't understand poor wee dude. He starts preschool in January and will be attending Karaka Learning Centre www.karakalearning.co.nz two days per week... fingers crossed he likes it! He can semi-dress himself now and has his own little jobs he does like go and get his bib for his dinner, put his toys away. Collect his shoes etc. He gets really proud of himself when he does good things and we give him lots and lots of praise. His toilet training comes and goes. He will go on the toilet every day that he is at home but doesn't go at Yaya's for some reason.

Hi everyone, well we have so much to fill you in on. George is now 19mths old and just the coolest guy you ever did meet. He's so happy and clever and just a bundle of confidence and laughter. So far we haven't crossed the terrible twos, except for the odd time when he is very determined to get what he wants and he runs to the couch and puts his head in his hands and cries for about 10 secs before he forgets why he's upset. :)

His vocab is coming along really nicely but what impresses us most is his manners and loving words. he says thank you ( ah cooo) and please and says love you (lub you). Just melts your heart. he is obsessed with cars and berries at the moment. so you can't open the freezer without him wanting some frozen raspberries.

He recognised Sean's Arsenal shirt and knows that it is a football team and when Arsenal gets a goal he runs about in circles yelling "goallllll!". He's staring to sing on his own and can sing tunes from Little Einsteins in his babbly with some recognisable words thrown in and he also sings Twinkle twinkle little star really well.

Well, he sure is growing in leaps and bounds. George can say about 30 words now and can string words together like... "Look at this", "Oh wow", "Hi Pop (dada, mumma, yaya etc)", "there it is".

George understands alot... you can say to him in normal adult tones "go into your playroom and get your caterpillar book and bring it here, i'll read it too you" and he'll go into his playroom, hunt out the right book and bring it. Soooo cute!

He is cutting his molars which means abit of nightwaking and early mornings. Poor wee guy! Must be so painful.

George's biggest news is that he actually went to the toilet properly tonight. We could see that he was straining abit so we said "come on George... lets go do poos on the toilet" and he held my hand to the bathroom. We pulled his nappy down (this is where cloth works really well) and put him on a special insert for the normal toilet. We said " o.k George... do your poos" and made groaning sounds and he imitated us and then did two poos! :) soooooo clever. He was right proud of himself too you could see it on his little face. so, he's hoping for less pooey cloth nappies to deal with! Yay!

What else? George is still swimming each saturday. His kicking is slowly improving and he's still really enjoying it. He also started up at the local Jumping Beans in our area... the kids and mums here are abit anti social but George is breaking them in. He goes up to everyone and says hello and tries to play with the babies... very full on and social our boy! He goes to Clevedon Playgroup every Monday and Friday with Yaya. He apparently loves it there and gets to make scones, ride bikes, paint and play with dough... basically make loads of mess and have fun. Awesome.

Well its been an interesting two months. We've said goodbye to Grandad and Nanna and we found a new home out in Papakura, closer to the family and near a more country lifestyle. Absolutely loving it. George has heaps of space at our new house and enjoys running round in the backyard and playing in his playroom.

George turns 15mths old next week and he's really going for it at the mo. Running everywhere, talking lots, asserting himself and being very loving... awwww, its awesome.

Anyway, we have lots of pics to post so I'll get to it now. Sorry for the lack of posts up until now but the past month has been mad, what with the move and winter really kicking in, plus getting used to a new routine with the commute to work. Life is great though and George is one happy wee chappy.

Wow, haven't posted in ages! Lots has been happening and don't really know where to start.
George had a lovely time with Nanna Moon and Grandad Cooper while they were here... he misses them now that they have gone back and goes down to there room often and lays his wee head on the bed. bless...

We did lots while they were here though, went up to Waipu, then Waihi Beach and Hot Water Beach, Rotorua...the list goes on!

George is running around now and doesn't really crawl anymore. He also is talking heaps and has learnt lots of new words since the Coopers were her. Light, hot, look at this (yes, he does actually say that!), uh ohhhhh (when you fall over or drop something), tahhhh, kiss. Still can't say Mama yet. Sean is dad da and I'm Daaaadee! Oh and he says Zeus (Mum's cat) but has now starting calling our cat Freya Zeus as well!

Started back at Jumping Beans Gym a couple of weeks back and he now climbs unassisted up the a frame ladders and goes over the top on this own pretty much.

Well today was George's christening and his birthday party...
The day went really well... George barely cried during the ceremony. Just when he was bored and wanted to run around.

Then his wee party which was mainly family and a few friends. That was great too and George got very spoilt and also seemed to love all the attention.

Not alot of time to post because I'm knackered but I will post up some pics... some of George in general, some of his reaction to his trike that Mummy and Daddy bought him for his birthday, the babies at his party (George, Caelan and Cole) and also some of his kick ass cake that I made. It is Rocket from Disney's Little Einsteins (his favourite tv show). Mum baked the vanilla butter cakes and I carved them up and created the masterpiece (yes, I was very proud!).

Well, in 2 1/2 days our darling will be one and what a year its been. Full of highest highs and not many lows (only the scary early days) but we look at every moment of the past year to be so so special. I miss the little baby that our darling was, so helpless and needy (and hungry! Like all the time!).

He's a big boy now. Like a sponge he soaks everything up and loves his wee independence. Sean and I fall in love with him more everyday and are so proud of the sweet, smart and loving little boy he is becoming.

He has been walking for about 4 weeks now... only the past two weeks has he been really going for it and now he's everywhere. Everyday he says more and does more cool stuff... just the little things, like taking his own leg out of his trousers for Daddy before his bath and when you say "Breakfast" he walks over to his highchair and tries to climb up.

Well after a long anticipated year George finally can get big cuddles from his Nana Moon and Grandad!
We got up at 3.30am yesterday morning so that Sean could get to the airport for the flight arriving at 4.35am. Turns out Sean should have checked the phone messages the night before cause the Coopers had to take a later flight from LA and they didnt get to Auckland til 7am!

Oh well... all is good now though. George walked to Nana and Grandad when they arrived and although he was a little unsure at first (he was very tired when they turned up and due for a sleep so abit grumpy!) after his morning sleep he was best of mates with them. He especially liked it when Nana and Grandad fed him bits of his lunch at the park and playing with the football.

We have recently heard that quite a few of our friends and family watch this site regulary and we are always being asked for more piccies.....BUT, we don't know who is coming on here or if anyone is truly reading this blog. News on George -
Biggest news is that he now walks unaided occasionally so the walking thing is just around the corner. He's looking forward to getting lots and lots of cuddles and kisses from Nanna Moon and Grandad Coops in a few weeks.

So sorry for not posting in a long time... we've been super busy!

Update in a nut shell
Teeth: Now has two bottom ones that are about 5mm through. Four top ones coming down at once at the mo, they have just cut through and two more coming up next to the two bottom ones! They took along time to come but they are here!

Movement: Crawling like a madman, cruising along the furniture, walls, ranch slider, chairs, anything! Can stand on his own for a few seconds before realising and then grabbing onto something. Runs and walks when he has both hands held. Walk slowly with only one hand held. Tries to climb up anything.

Other new things: Is obsessed with planes and helicopters in the sky. When he hears them he says "Whats that?" and points to the sky! He waves to people and high fives.

George has graduated from Baby Jumping Beans and is now at Toddler Beans. He can climb an A frame ladder and back down with Mummy only holding and guiding his feet...he controls his own balance and holding on. Is going to Mainly Music class with Yaya and is now in his 2nd term at Paddletots Swim School...

George went swimming in the ocean lots when Uncle Graham came to visit and he went under and was o.k. LOVES the waves and surf and playing in the sand.

At 10 mths old (yesterday) he weighs 11.1kgs and is 75.5 cms tall. Head circumference is 49cms! Big head apparently... doesn't suprise me! He is in the normal weight range for his height which suprised Daddy and Mummy!

Food: Eats anything...pretty much has adult food now but no sweets or fats, no unhealthy stuff. Loves yoghurt with a passion and also fruit like plums, apricots and watermelon.

George was a very lucky baby for his first Xmas. Not only did he get lots of very cool pressies BUT he also finally crawled properly! He now crawls everywhere... he has learnt very quickly how cool the stereo and DVD player is.

Well George is doing lotsa new stuff now. He's crawling forwards occasionally but nearly always on his tummy. Won't be long and he'll be crawling properly. He is pulling himself up on his knees and standing and cruising while holding onto furniture. Not bad for a baby of 8 months! Can't believe how quickly time flies.

He talks in his own way, says dada, mmmmmmuuuuuuummmmm mmmm (mum), ta (cat), tata (water)... he has a very unique sense of humour too. He's eating like a big boy now. Has dairy products like yoghurt, semolina pudding, abit of cheese. Loves yoghurt... its like the bestest thing in the whole world!

He's loving being looked after by Yaya during the week and is very good for her. they make each other laugh and he really is such an angel.

NO TEETH YET! Arrrrrgggggh! One has cut through but then gone again. Very frustrating for George and us as he gets quite fussy.

Doing really well at swimming as you can see in the clip posted a while back. Can't wait to take him back to classes in the new year!

Well its been a crazy busy few weeks. George is still teething quite bad but nothing cutting through yet. I think within the next week we may have something... touch wood! George is doing lots of cool new things though... commando rolling, yelling lots and now kinda waves hello and goodbye and also claps his hands! We are so proud!

He also knows the word "cat". So when we say "where's the cat?", George looks down to the floor and around the furniture for Freya. I go back to work full time next week and George has had a practise day at Yaya's on Tuesday which went really really well. He was such a good boy and was there from 7.45am - 2.30pm. He had two wee sleeps and had lots of fun with Pop and Yaya.

George is also eating meat now. He eats Lamb, Kumara and Spinach for dinner and seems to love it! Today he tried berries for the first time at his friend, Caelan's place and really loved that! Needless to say I'll be picking up some frozen berries this weekend!

Today we had Baby Beans Gym and he had lots of fun doing the "Wiggly woo" and swinging from a trapeze. He also seems to love swimming class with Daddy and went under the water about 4-5 times last weekend. George is sitting for longer periods now. The longest he has sat up is about 15 mins but usually he topples over when he tries to get to his toys... such an active boy!

Well, as you can probably tell from the title of this post, George is definately moving forward in leaps and bounds. His rolling is really good now and he knows to tuck his head in so that he doesn't bump it. He's also sitting for about 30-40 secs at one time now before toppling over. We have a really cool toy that helps him sit up. Its a bunch of musical flowers that he has between his legs and he can play them (each flower make a musical note).
George's voice is definately getting louder. He loves to yell and also sing in the car. Soooo cute! George had an audition for a commercial last week. Long story but he did really well. Funny though, as I was parking outside the studio I could hear this big "ggrrrrrggghhhh" coming from the backseat. George was doing a poo! I had about 2 mins to get inside for the audition so no time to change his nappy. Lucky it wasn't an explosive one so I just got some nice smelling baby cream and rubbed it on him in hope it would cover up the stink!

George's new game is opening doors. We go down to his room and through each door. When we get to the door we say "Open the door" or Sean says "Do your job" and George reaches out with one hand and opens the door. So funny cause he peeps through as he does it and gets real excited when he opens it. We are sooo proud!

Still sleeping through the night, not crawling yet but does creep forward on his belly, no sign of teeth yet but still gnawing on everything and we are back at Jumping Beans this week! Yay!

Heres our happy boy this morning... you wouldn't think it was the same baby from last night! Sean and I left George with Yaya and Poppa Nolan last night while we went to a wedding... it was the first time anyone else has ever put him to bed. We thought if Yaya and Poppa stuck to the routine that it would be o.k... but no, George wasn't having it! After his bath, dressing and bottle he went down o.k...then cried and cried and Mummy and Daddy had to come home early. Nevermind...maybe next time, eh George?

Hi everyone,
Its been a crazy couple of weeks here... having lots of fun though. With lots of work on in the office I don't have as much time to make updates on here anymore... will try to do it every week though!

George is still sleeping through the night now. Its been three weeks! I feel pretty great getting more sleep. He's almost at 4 hour feeds now and 3 solid feeds a day. He now eats lots of different foods. Kumara, pumpkin, carrot, broccoli, courgette, pear, banana, avocado, toast and puha too! He loves all the foods and the puha has been great for softening up the poos. For those in the UK, Puha is a cross between watercress and dandelion.

George has been rolling from back to front heaps and I found him on his tummy under his blankets giggling the other day. I had put him down for a nap and an hour later there he was! Silly boy!

He's also trying to speak... does this little "Zaa", "baaa" noise...whispers it and talks back to me when I talk to him. So cute! Lots of reaching up to be picked up and cuddles. Likes to say, "Da da" alot which of course Sean believes its directed at him. George says it to everything though!

We think George is teething... last night he woke up a couple of times for a quick cuddle and I think its cause his wee teeth are hurting. He was sooo good though...straight back down without a fuss. I reckon we'll see some teeth popping through within the next couple of weeks.

We start swimming classes tomorrow! Hope George enjoys it... its a school called Paddle Tots (how cute is that!) and is a class especially for babies. Will hope to get some pics and post up on the site next week.

He's still sleeping through the night!!!!
Such a good boy! Went to Plunket yesterday and by memory he's now 7.8kgs, 67.5 cms long and his head is 45.5 cms round! Not a giant but very healthy... he of course screamed the Plunket rooms down. I think he hates the Plunket nurse.

No much other news... happy boy means happy Mummy and Daddy. Off for his immunisations on Friday though so that should be interesting... he's going to hate me! boo hoo...

Well, last night was a milestone. George actually slept through the night properly - not just 7-8 hours but from 8pm to 7am! Soooo good, although now its tempting to get tricked into a false sense of security. This won't happen all the time though so I best enjoy it.

George is doing soooo well. He has his last class of Jumping Beans on Thursday and we've enrolled him for next term too. He also starts Paddle tots - www.paddletots.co.nz - in October and will be doing that with his Daddy which is great for them both.

George has such a great sense of humour...hes very ticklish under his chin and along his sides and now all I have to do is say "tickle tickle tickle!" and he starts laughing.

Well, its been far too long since we last updated the blog and George has done lots of great things. We went up to visit Poppa and Oma in Waipu and George slept for the first time in his new portacot. He seemed to love it although he did sleep diagonally in it! He is also comfortable sleeping in it during the day and its great when we go visiting at Yaya's as George goes down for an hour or so in the spare room.

George also had his first experience at the beach last weekend and Daddy dangled his feet in the ocean. He thought it was soooo cool and also loved his feet being warmed up by Mummy later. George's biggest news is that he is now eating solids! He eats pumpkin and kumara and tried some pear the other day. He opens his mouth real wide and makes "ummmm...yummmmm....ummmmmmmmmm" noises while eating. We think he looks like a Mako Shark when he goes for the spoon... bless

He eats about 1/4 cup twice a day and so far we haven't seen any changes to his night sleeping... in fact he seems to be waking more! Oh well, can't win em all.

George is also rolling around lots and making lots of squeally sounds and laughing alot. He has a very low pitched giggle... very cute!

Well, our darling turned 4 months old yesterday and he must of celebrated by being an absolute angel. We had a very full on day, visit to Plunket, visiting Saffron and Caelan, a hours walk along the waterfront and shopping and he was sooo good. No grissling or anything and seemed to enjoy his day.

He was weighed at Plunket and he's now 7.04 kgs or 15.5 pounds which is pretty normal for his age. He is sleeping well again too, I think this is because he is getting an extra top up of expressed milk in the early evening now and last night he slept from 8pm - 6am!

Off to jumping beans today and going to buy him a portacot so that our trip to Poppa and Oma's this weekend is pleasant for us all. Fingers crossed he likes sleeping in it!

George has taken to screaming now and laughs when he is tickled or if he's playing "jumpy jumpy" on Mummy or Daddy's lap... sooooo cute!

Well, both George and Mummy have fully recovered from their terrible lurgy and are now 100% better. George has had a rather good week and seems to be going through a growth spurt. Yesterday he fed 2.5 hourly and he had 80mls of expressed milk and a big Mummy feed plus he took 200mls of formula before bed! He's starting to get rugby playing thighs...they are sooo chubby and cute!

George also spent some time with his cousins Taylor and Rylee this week and said Hi and Bye to them as they are off to Wellington to live (Hi guys!!!). As you can see in one of the pics he looks a little stressed out to say the least.

Yaya looked after George this week and saw the extent of George's wee stressy personality. I had put him down to sleep before I went to work and Mum said that when she went in to get him he stuck his lip out in protest...bless!

Well George has fully recovered from his wee lurgy but Mummy has it now and boy does it suck to be sick with a baby! All you wanna do is crawl into bed and sleep and of course that is impossible! Never mind... George is such a special baby and I forget all about the cold when I see his smiling wee face.

George rolled over once the other day from his back to his front and now its his new game. He is sooo determined to roll all the time and gets very upset when he can't quite do it!! He yells and yells and pushes sooo hard to turn over. Very very cute. He also loves looking in the mirror now and enjoys tummy time which he didn't a month or so ago. I truly think that Jumping Beans is helping. He loves going to Baby Beans class and loves the trampoline and the belly hammock the best. I think I'll try to take the camera next time I go and get some pics of him doing his thing.

Our George is sick with a "respiratory viral infection". Sounds very serious ( and it can be if not treated) but its really just a cold. He's in very good spirits considering he's bunged up with mucus poor wee blighter. Mummy and Daddy were/are very worried and are giving him lots and lots of feeds, cuddles and sleep. The routine goes out the window for a few days...

Since getting his immunisations last week, George is now waking twice a night for feeding. Its not too bad as at least he sleeps from 8pm - 2am, and then wakes again at 4 or 5 for another feed. Not sure why he is doing this...many theories but I'm not quite ready to let him cry it out yet and as he is starting to get distracted during his day feeds he really does need these night ones. So sleep deprivation, here I come! :)

George is just very good though. Alot more wakeful during the day and loves being sung to and playing with all his toys, especially his new bug. He is obsessed with Green bug toys from Lamaze. Oooohs and ahhhhs at them all the time...bless.

We have started at Jumping Beans ( www.jumpingbeans.net ) and he is enjoying the Baby Beans class even if he is the youngest there. All the other babies range from 5mths - 1year and are sitting up on their own... poor George is baby of the class. At the Baby Beans class he learns kinetic gym exercises to help movement and brain development.

George in his Jolly Jumper... I don't think babies are meant to go in these until they are over 4 months but George can hold his head very well and we only put him in it for a few minutes each day. He thinks its great!

Not alot to report...George is still being an angel and is still sleeping well. Went from 8pm- 5am last night!

We've found a night cloth nappy that works really well now and so George is a fully cloth nappy wearing baby now! Yay! So cute and makes me feel better that not only am I saving money but also not adding to NZ's waste by using disposibles. For those of you who don't know, George is wearing a modern cloth nappy (not sure if they have alot of them in the UK) which are shaped like a disposible but is made out of cloth and is washable. They are amazing!

Sleeping angel

Getting good at tummy time!

Time is going so fast... I know I keep saying that but its true! He's learning new things every day now. Reaching out to grab toys has now turned into grabbing them and putting them in his mouth. He stands up with us holding his hands (very strong legs!) and according to the plunket nurse his teeth are starting to come through already!

He now squeals with delight and George is usually calm in the mornings with a big smile and very happy to see us! We are still going to our course once a week and George also hosted a coffee group last week and he was reasonably well behaved. He is booked in to get his immunisations next week so that should be interesting. I hope he doesn't hate me for it!

11 weeks old!

Time is flying past so quickly and George is doing new things every day. He grabs for things now and can hold his flash cards which is finds very cool. He is starting to squeal now and makes longer oohing and aaahhhing noises.

This week we are working on his tummy time as he doesn't usually like it but its quite important for his development so I'm trying all sorts of things to keep him happy while on his tummy.

Still a pretty good sleeper but he now also keeps himself happy in the mornings and lies there with his thumb in his mouth, talking to his mobile over his cot. This is great as it gives Mummy abit of a sleep in and he is also very happy when we go in to see him.

Busy Boy!

Well George has had a very busy week but has taken it really well. He and Mummy have been out everyday, walking, meeting up with friends and family etc. Its been great for him as hes getting used to getting in and out of his very cool buggy and also likes the car rides now.

He slept abit funny earlier in the week. He was waking again 2-3 times a night but last night he went down from 8-4am which is more like it! He seemed alot happier today and hopefully this is how it will stay for a while.

George's new thing is to pee all over his change table, Mummy or Daddy and the floor. I've had to change all the covers on his change table twice this week as he has peed all over them. Never mind...at least his bits are working properly!

George gets distracted when breastfeeding now and sometimes he tries to have a conversation with me whilst feeding which is very funny. But not so cute at two in the morning...

George had a very tiring day yesterday as the baby course was a little bit much for him. He was good in the first hour (asleep!) but then cried lots in the 2nd hour as he was hungry but doesn't feed well in public. Poor lad! Anyway, he missed out on about two hours of sleep yesterday afternoon and come bedtime he looked like this... asleep in his bath. Bless him. He looks like a right angel when he floats about in his bath.

We thought as George was so tired that we were sure to get him to sleep right through as per usual. Ohhhhh no, he woke up at 2.30am, then 5am, then 6.30am. Growth spurt perhaps?? Who knows... put it down to the mysteries of babies and fingers crossed for a better sleep today and tonight!

10 Weeks old!

While Mummy was pampered in a day spa yesterday, Daddy looked after George on his own. George woke up when Mummy was leaving, had a bottle, played for a while and then went down for a nap and slept for 2.5 hours until Mummy got back! Very good boy. Daddy was probably very relieved and even managed to start dinner!

George is developing very quickly. He oohs and ahhhs all the time now and wakes up from his sleep with smiles instead of cries. The only time he really cries on waking is the early morning feed when he's really really hungry.

During that early morning feed he now tries to play with Mummy and starts to talk to her but Mummy has to ignore him otherwise George won't go back down for a sleep.

He loves watching the World Cup on the telly and also loves his new bouncer and toys, especially the swinging teddy bear.

Today, Mummy and George are going to a course in the afternoon. Its about "The Growing Baby" and hopefully George is well behaved unlike the massage course last week. He cried and cried during the whole thing.

Our clever clever boy is now sleeping through the night! George now sleeps from 8pm - 5am without a stir and then goes back down at 5.30-5.45am and sleeps until 8am. Such a good boy!

He now seems to be grasping the hang of his hands and also thumb sucking which is saving Mummy and Daddy from having to put our fingers in his mouth to calm him.

Tomorrow, George and Mummy are attending a Baby massage course which should be fun! Fingers crossed he is good and doesn't cry the entire time!

George has been awesome the past two days. Yesterday he slept through my entire appointment which was great because I was so worried he'd scream his head off. Then we went to visit Saffron and Caelan and he was reasonably well behaved there...abit of crying but he soon settled on me and slept for a time. Bless him!

He is making new sounds everyday. Yesterday he made a sort of cooing when Sean touched his nose and he kept doing it...very cute. He also turned and looked at Sean yesterday when Sean called his name! Clever boy!

Last night we had to put George down abit earlier as Sean was doing a mix in the studio and George slept from 8pm to 3.45am! Awesome. He then went straight back to sleep at 4.30am and slept until 7am. Such a good sleeper and Mummy feels great when she only has to get up once in the night! I got 8 hours sleep last night!

Today the weather is packing in so George and I are going to have a cosy stay-at-home day. George will play under his gym and get some tummy time (he might just roll over again) and hopefully have a few naps. He's sleeping better during the day now as he has found his thumb and when he wakes up after 30 mins he just puts his thumb in his mouth and drifts off back to sleep.

Well its been an interesting few days for wee George. On Saturday night we went around to Uncle Kev and Auntie Lous for dinner. George was crying the entire time we were there! We felt so bad but I guess we have to get George used to socialising.

He did however coo and smile for a little bit so that Uncle Kev and Auntie Lou didn't think he was the baby from hell! :)

George is starting to sleep abit better during the day now. I think its because he's abit older and understands that its sleep time when put down into his bed. We took George to the supermarket again this week and he was good except he started crying half way round so Mummy or Daddy had to put their finger in his mouth to stop him from kicking up too much of a fuss!

Yesterday the power was out here in Auckland from 8.30am - 3pm. It was like a 3rd world country! Hard to drive around the city in the pouring rain with no traffic lights working and a screaming baby in the back! Thank god George is breastfed otherwise he would of had no bottles to drink! I kept thinking about those Mum's formula feeding their babies and trying to make up bottles with no power. Musta been very hard.

George is having a great day so far. Last night he slept from 9.30pm - 4.30am and then went back down at 5am and slept til 8am. He's been very smiling and cooing lots today. He's now back down for a sleep.

George is being very good lately and is very well behaved when he is out with Mummy. We went out and about alot this week and in general he's been just fantastic!

Absolutely loves his play gym and can lie under it for ages talking to himself.

George is starting to get a right little personality now and according to Plunket is an "anxious" baby. I think that means that he stresses a little and goes from one extreme emotion to the other. We love him so much though... even when he poos all up his back and then when Mummy is changing the nappy he pees all over her and the carpet. Bless.

George visited his friend Caelan today. Caelan is almost 10 weeks old. They didn't really talk much cause Caelan was feeding and George was crying but I'm sure they will play nicely one day!

7 Weeks and 2 days old

Well, we took George away for his first trip this weekend just gone. We went up to Oma and Poppa's in Waipu. George was generally a little angel...slept soundly in a fish bin for a bed! Very cute... The drive up was good, he slept for most of the way but whenever the car would stop at a red light, Mummy had to gently shake his capsule so that he would go back to sleep... bless!
He's doing really well...making lots of cooing and ahhhing noises and trying to talk to us.

George is also kicking at things now and reaching to grab the toys on his play gym. He loves baby mozart and Mummy and Daddy's singing...especially Mummy's special George song and Daddy's Xmas carols by trumpet noises. :)

He gets another visit from Plunket on Wednesday to see how he's growing... he must be doing good cause he's growing out of his clothes pretty fast!

George gets abit windy most days (like his father!) so I'm now on Blessed Thistle tablets from the Naturopath to hopefully help my milk from getting him too windy.

George has been Mr Grizzly Pants the last couple of days. He won't go to sleep in his cot during the day...and just cries and cries... then when I go in he stops crying and is fine. I think he is just trying it on but can't be sure so after 15-20 minutes I just have to go back in and pick him up. Hate the thought of him working himself up!

Went out in the buggy with George the past two days as the weather has been beautiful. Cold but gorgeous blue skies... The 30 minute walk does me and him alot of good... I'm pretty unfit though! I'm puffing after 10 minutes of walking... I guess it is kinda hilly around here though.

Can't post for long because Master Cooper is crying again... and I still have to bring in the washing, dry the dishes, pack for our trip up north and sort out dinner! The days just pass by soooo quickly!

Well wee George had his 6 week vaccinations yesterday. It broke our hearts to see him in sooo much pain. They give them 3 jabs in the thigh at 6 weeks, 3 months and 5 months... poor babies!

George then got abit of a temperature yesterday after his jabs and was very clingy wanting cuddles and feeds continuiously throughout the day. he was o.k though, just quiet and abit drowsy and whimpering occasionally.

Can't believe how big he is now! Soon he'll be two months old! Very glad that I'm not going back to work until January and we are enjoying every moment.

George rolled himself from his tummy to his back two days ago! He thought it was a great laugh... he quite likes his tummy time if I time it when hes receptive.

Well he's almost 6 weeks old and time is just flying past. He is so very alert now and seems to be absorbing everything around him. Smiles come freely as does the laughing. He just loves being tickled and having Mum or Dad sniffing around his ear. The last couple of days have been a little unsettled. He wasn't sleeping again during the day and also fussing at feeding times which was not the most pleasant thing. Usually feeding is the solution to all problems! :)

Today has been a better day. He slept from 8.30pm - 3.45am last night... went back down at 4.15am and sleep until 7.15am. Since then he's had 3 naps of one hour each. The last one he vomited up...poor wee thing. I didn't know what the wetness was at first! Thought he must of done good to pee up that high! He hasn't been crying too much today. Just when he has abit of wind.

He's into his big boy nappies now. We are still using disposables sometimes (going out and when Daddy is lazy!) but during the day I use cloth nappies on him which he seems to love.

We have bought a video camera so will get that next week. To the family in the UK: we'll be sending out DVD's very soon!

Goodbye Midwive, hello Plunket!

George was discharged from our Midwifes care yesterday. He now weighs 10 lbs, 6oz according to the MW's scales (which are abit out so he should weigh close to 11lbs now!). The Plunket nurse will visit tomorrow and make sure he is all good which we are sure he is! His head has grown 1.5 cms in 1 week! Good Lord!

The MW said he was a beautiful boy, great skin and his bits and pieces are just as they should be. Still breastfeeding except for a formula top up at night before bedtime. He usually only takes 50-80mls then though. He slept for 6.5 hours in a row last night. Needless to say, Mum feels really good today!

Another week down and time is going so fast...George is growing up too quickly. He laughs and smiles lots now...a very happy boy. Yesterday we went out for the day and he was sooo good. He loved looking about the park and getting cuddles with the friends we visited. Such a good baby.
George loves being tickled by his Dad and dancing about the house with his Mum... likes to be active and look at new things.

I wonder what new experiences the next week will bring...

Well George is 4 weeks old today and doing pretty good. He likes to look at himself in the mirror and almost laughs now...amazing really! He's still restless during the day especially when Daddy is home 'cause they like to play together and Daddy is not as tough as Mummy in leaving him to cry.

He isn't putting on weight as much as my midwife and I would like so we are working really hard on his feeds now. Hopefully he'll put on much more weight this week. He's now on cloth nappies too... they look so cute on him and he seems to like them.

Well its been 3 weeks since George arrived in this world and what a journey its been so far. He is quite a good boy. Just has problems going to sleep during the day but we are getting there. He feeds really well and seems to be putting on weight everyday. He wasn't up to his birth weight last week at 2 weeks but we think he is there now!

George is smiling now and is holding his head up for over a minute on his own! Crazy! We think its because he was overdue and is a little advanced physically. He follows us with his eyes around the room and loves to watch Arsenal matches with his Dad and have "mummy kisses" with his Mum. He is growing out of his newborn clothes now and is just a little small for all his 3 month old stuff yet.

Mum and Dad are getting good amounts of sleep. Dad more so than Mum...but Mum still gets 7 hours (broken in two halves) sleep per night so thats not too bad!

George is doing really good and we are totally in love with him! We can't tell who he looks like just yet as some days he looks alot like Daddy but most of the time he looks like Mum.
